Woodley First Responders
Woodley First Responders are a team of volunteers who have everyday lives and jobs. They dedicate any spare time they have to being 'on call' with the Ambulance Service. Working in partnership with South Central Ambulance Service, they respond to 999 emergency calls in the Woodley and surrounding areas. Their fundamental aim is to deliver immediate care, to those who need it the most, as soon as possible.
They have all undertaken training, to provide them with the essential skills and knowledge they need. In most cases they respond in their own unmarked cars to incidents and are liable for their own fuel and maintenance costs. They can receive anything from no call outs to multiple incidents all in one shift.
We are really pleased to have the team at this years carnival, come and meet them and learn about their work and how they support the community. On display will be their new responder vehicle, check out the equipment it carries, and if you ask nicely they might even put on the blue lights!
Your also be able to look around an ambulance and the further equipment it carries, and there will be the opportunity to try your hand at CPR and first aid.
As they receive minimal funding from the NHS budget, they rely strongly on fundraising and are supported in this by the South Central Ambulance Charity.
