Something very special happens on carnival day, as the annual carnival brings our community groups and businesses together in Woodford Park for the biggest outdoor event in Woodley town's calendar.
The theme for this year’s carnival is “Heroes and Villains” and starting the proceedings is our carnival procession which departs from Comet Way at 11am and travels the streets of Woodley, arriving at the field around 1.30pm. The carnival opens at noon and we have a field packed full of exciting fun and entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
Our main arena is positively bursting with activity this year, our local groups will have a range of singing, dancing and acrobatic displays for you to enjoy. Our younger superheroes will be able to enjoy a range of FREE participation events including an inflatable world and rides on the Smiley Train.
We have lots to see on the field with a Classic Car Show, Dog Show and Flower Show all taking place during the afternoon. We also have some fantastic displays from local enthusiast of model railways, traction engines, caged birds and even some exciting exotic animals!
We are excited to have on display the 1966 Batmobile - One of the most popular and instantly recognisable cars on the planet, this iconic vehicle has appeared all over the world and, on many occasions, with Adam West himself. Revered by adults and children alike, this Batmobile comes complete with essential crime fighting gadgets, flame thrower and bat radar detectors! The Batmobile will travel in the procession from 11am arriving at the field around 1.30pm
Make sure you catch Tall Will, the tallest Bubbleologist in the whole world! He's 6'10" and is also a brilliant stilt walker! With an amazing repertoire of bubble tricks - from giant bubbles to the tiniest bubbles in the world. Bubble sculptures, smoke bubbles, fire bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, bubbles with his bare hands and tons more to delight and captivate every audience of any age.
A fast, colourful and noisy event can be seen at the Delta Flyball Club area where they will be demonstrating a sport which is fun for the dogs, fun for the handlers and is exciting to watch!
You will also be able to meet our local superheroes with displays from the Fire, Police and Ambulance service, PLUS you will be able to meet a range of Heroes and Villains throughout the afternoon.
If you choose to stay into the evening, you can bring a picnic to enjoy in the park whilst listening to the live music and then end the evening watching our firework finale.
A wide selection of food will be available to keep you going throughout the afternoon and evening. Choose from local groups or commercial stands who will no doubt be providing a scrumptious selection of hot food. The carnival bar will be serving a range of beers, wines and soft drinks as well as Pimms by the glass or jug.
