2017 Carnival Charities
The Woodley community carnival has been at the heart of the community since 1960 and is a much-loved tradition. Every year it brings together people from all parts of the Town and provides a fundraising opportunity for local groups; who join us in the afternoon with a range of stalls and activities.
Each year we support up to 4 nominated local charities, in 2016 we supported the Berkshire multiple sclerosis therapy centre, Me2 club, Camp Mohawk and Woodley pre-school, each benefited from the generosity of the community.
This year, our 57th carnival; we are pleased to announce our 2017 charities, Wokingham Link Visiting Scheme, Woodley First Responder Group, WADE day centre and Woodley Food Bank. Each of these serve our local community in different ways and we are delighted to be able to support them.
The Woodley carnival committee is a group of volunteers who stage the carnival each year. The primary objective of the committee is to deliver a carnival and associated events that involve as many people from Woodley as possible fostering community spirit and building community cohesion.
The carnival comprises of a procession through Woodley, followed by displays and events on the Memorial Field, Headley Road. The festivities officially start at noon on 10th June, with the afternoon events and then from 6pm an evening concert is held, which all the family can enjoy; ending with a spectacular firework finale.
